The Mind Is A Wonderful Thing… It Starts Working The Moment You Are Born and Never Stops Until You Get Up To Speak In Public
The number two fear for people, we have been told, is standing up and making a presentation (it’s even got its own name, Glossophobia) so we focus on what to do to make this as enjoyable as possible.
“According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy.” Jerry Seinfeld
We therefore look at nerves, how to handle them, how to structure your presentation, the importance of visuals, using the technology, planning, body language, oratory skills and lots more.
“Ask yourself, If I had only sixty seconds on the stage, what would I absolutely have to say to get my message across.” Jeff Dewar
The one-day programme looks at the theory, the two-day programme has a practical element where all delegates show us their presentations and we can assess where they may need to improve. And it’s fun!
(We also do a variation of this course that looks at public speaking, covering most of this but having more of a focus on speeches and how best to structure and deliver them.)
